WOW! What a list! A total mouthful most can’t pronounce and very few can spell. Do you know what they are? If your anything like me you had no idea but thought if they sell it, it’s safe right? NOPE, not true. Products with harmful chemicals are in so many products sold in the US. They are readily available and don’t come with the warnings they should.
I have been wearing makeup for about 30 years now and until about 3 years ago I didn’t think about what I was putting on my face, in my hair and all over my body. Skin is our largest organ—adults carry some 8 pounds and 22 square feet of it!!! Skin is your body’s coat. It protects you so why shouldn’t we take care of and protect it?
When I began a healthy food lifestyle 7 years ago one of the first things I learned about food was a good rule of thumb for healthy living is eat what you can pronounce with the exception of quinoa. 😉 So I began to look at my household items first and replacing those with healthy alternatives, then I started looking at my body products and replaced those. I did the same with those products as I did with my foods years ago, I looked up every ingredient to find out why it was an ingredient. When I looked at what was in my makeup and body care products needless to say, I was putting myself at risk for serious health problems and even death.
I downloaded the EWG app and started scanning all my makeup. This app makes it easy to see what’s in your products. It uses a rating system for a consumer guide to more than 78,000 personal care products. When I scanned something and it wasn’t in the app, I threw it out. Better safe than sorry! I will admit it was hard to throw it all away at first because there was a lot of money tied up in that makeup but I couldn’t use it know what I was putting on my skin and my life and health is not worth that risk. There are better options out there that doesn’t make beauty deadly!
What did I replace this make up with? Savvy Minerals from Young Living.
